Immigration_reform

Virginia’s immigrant community has deep roots. Many have come here to make a better life. Many came here to flee from persecution. Families have raised their children here, worked to provide for their loved ones, and have bought homes. Many are working on the frontlines during the COVID-19 pandemic to keep food on our tables and providing health care.

Our immigration system is broken. It stopped recognizing the dignity and humanity of immigrants. We need a pathway to citizenship in the United States.

Without citizenship, there is no guarantee that our country will protect them. Citizenship would help keep families together and end the deportation pipeline. We want people to be treated equally and able to obtain much-needed public benefits and rights like healthcare during hard times.

There are people who are just as American as your neighbors.

We will be taking action to make sure we are getting citizenship for all. On Tuesday, February 16th, we had our advocacy day to ask for immigration reform. We met with Virginia legislators or their staff to make sure they know this is our home. We need you, your neighbors, and your friends to make this happen
